Recently I was invited to Gareth Morgans Treaty talks by  Jevan Goulter that included various celebrity speakers and was hosted by Willie Jackson. I have to give credit to Gareth Morgan he is probably being more realistic about the Treaty of Waitangi than any government in history.

The treaty talks includes 60  famous New Zealanders who were prepared to talk openly and honestly about the Treaty of Waitangi and a range of issues related to it. The talks included Dr Don Brash, Michelle Boag, Dame Tairana Turia, Dame Claudia Orange, Dame Joan Metge and Professor Ranginui Walker.

The objective is to free the Treaty from the perception that it relates only to lawyers, politicians and activists. The treaty talks are starting a debate that should is long overdue for a country that wears blinkers to its founding national document.
