The Prime minister initial response when Maori language month was suggested by a young girl at at an assembly of Waiuku college he laughed as though it was worthless. Trent Brown Marsh a student at Waiuku College explained at that very moment the Pakeha kids began to laugh with the Prime-minister humiliating the young girl as he explained how a month of Maori language would be “boring”.
Trent Brown Marsh a young student fluent in Te Reo Maori noticed none of the Maori students or teachers laughed with the Prime minister.
This incident has marginalized the Maori students of Waiuku College as the Prime minister has inspired a prejudice anti-Maori sentiment at the School. With claims angry non-Maori students have been critical of Maori language week allegedly saying “Maori language is a waist of language“.
How does that work the Prime minister of your country diminishes the Native language and students with a low tolerance of Maori language get angry?
Students pointed out the staff at Waiuku College have been highly supportive of Maori language week and have not attempted to censor the students. In fact the students are proud of Waiuku College and don’t blame the School for this incident.
Trent Brown Marsh made this comment.
“He Should of been more diplomatic. As the leader of our country he should be more professional in what he says to young people, because the future does depend on us. How can young maori aspire to him with such an unprofessional answer like that. (He’s definitely lost my vote on the next election) The student that posed the question grew up with the reo and it is close to her heart just as it is for me. Of all people he should be the one to learn maori, his pronunciation of maori words is shocking. If nz can have a music month, why cant we have a maori language month. This yeah marks the 40th year of maori language week and i think its time we must extend this celebration not only for it survival but because its a national language of nz. People say nz makes more money off music hence why its a month but if you look at it tourism in nz is higher than dairy and most of those tourists sites are all maori for e.g rotorua” – Trent Brown Marsh

A good friend of the Prime ministers Cameron Slater had this to say about Trent Brown Marsh
Cameron Slater
“John Key is disputing the claims of the little scrote who is saying Keys’ comments made a girl cry” “Even if he did say it was boring, most Kiwis would agree” – Cameron Slater
Its hard to buy the prime ministers explanations that a month of Maori language would dilute the meaning when he won’t apologise to these non-politically motivated teenage students . The PM could also ask Cameron Slater to pull his head in and stop calling teenage kids nasty names and apologise as well but I wouldn’t be suprised if the PM agrees with Slater.
