David Round the author of Truth or Treaty? is a Canterbury university academic making absurd claims to the New Zealand public that Maori are privileged and the aristocracy.
David Round “You get a lighter sentence than anyone else if you are a member of the Maori aristocracy Too bad if you are just a stupid common old white person”
Round has made a claim that Maori are the aristocracy despite every statistic has Maori with the highest unemployment and incarceration rates.
David Round “A Maori of aristocratic birth should not be punished as other people should be punished”
Maori are not born into Aristocracy they are normally born into poverty.
David Round “And meting out more lenient punishments to those of Maori birth, or even some of those of Maori birth, will of course simply lead to more Maori crime.”
Maori don’t receive lenient punishments in the criminal justice system in fact it’s quite the opposite for example Teina Pora.
David Round “It is deeply ironic that John Key is now enjoying a certain popularity for ‘standing up to the Maoris’.
In Maori circles John Key is the most despised New Zealand prime minister in the 21st century.
David Round “It is well past time to expect Maori to keep their word, and for us simply to say ‘no’ to further Maori greed.”
Turning a blind eye of British colonial greed during the New Zealand settlements Act 1863 the biggest gravy train in New Zealand history.
David Round “Environmentalists delude themselves, however, if they expect improvements after Maori take over. Maori have no special gene for environmental care.”
Environmentalism is not in Maori DNA it’s part of Maori culture as with most indigenous cultures.
David Round “After the retirement of the Maori Party’s present leaders it seems highly likely that its new leader will be that rampant racist Hone Harawira ~ he who does not want any white boys near his daughters, and who is unrepentant in describing us as white motherfuckers.”
Mr Round has the audacity to claim Hone Harawira is racist over a private email that’s rich coming from this radical.
David Round “Why is it, I cannot but wonder, that gangs and Maoris just seem to go together? I cannot believe that it is all injustice and oppression, I’m sorry. Plenty of other people are also poor and oppressed. Maori are not the only victims.”
Why is it, I cannot but wonder, that soccer hooliganism and the English just seem to go together? Yet there are Gangs all over the world.
David Round “A large and increasing number of Maori are now (completely mistakenly) convinced that they own all the water in New Zealand.”
Mr Round has not read and comprehended article two of the Treaty of Waitangi, waters rights categorically belong to the families of the signatories. Mr Rounds opinions of Maori that are one sided and highly inaccurate without any consultation with Tangata Whenua.
Mana News is demanding Canterbury university terminate Professor Round’s employment. Based on Professor Rounds prejudice comments and promoting the suppression of indigenous rights. Canterbury University has an obligation to be consistent with its missions statement towards indigenous people.
Māori identity and knowledge is recognised and valued at the University of Canterbury. As the indigenous people, an understanding is needed for all non-Māori graduates to respect and understand Māori knowledge and systems.
