With the upcoming By-election in Northland if your on the general electoral roll its important you check with the electoral commission you are enrolled and eligible to vote. Its a great time to check if your enrolled on the Maori electoral roll as well many voters have been de-registered. (Voters on the Maori electoral roll are not included in this by-election)

In the last election thousands of votes were discounted in the Maori seat of Te Tai Tokerau electorate due to voters not being enrolled. When the recount of Te Tai Tokerau was requested in Whangarei district court, the Judge admitted that there had been some anomalies on behalf of the electoral commission and the concerns were serious enough to be  justified.
