Waitangi: The Prime minister is out of touch

avatr Mana News editor Joe Trinder

The prime minister office needs to terminate the prime ministerial speech writer with prejudice. You don’t come to Te Tii Marae and make a case to conduct a western lead war halfway across the world. John Key’s role on Waitangi day is the representative for the crown to conduct himself with Mana as did Captain William Hobson in 1840. The speech was disrespectful to a people that have been at the sharp end of western invasion in the Ohaeawai campaign. For many hapu in northland the scars from the land wars are still raw and this speech was hard to swallow.
