The prime minister said yesterday “Ultimately are we going to say we are going to be part of a club like [we] are with Five Eyes intelligence?” a journalist asked Mr Key “Are we ultimately going to be able to rely on members of those clubs to support us in our moment of need?” The answer is no, the five eyes fight club is not reciprocal for example when we sent NZ Army’s 161 Battery to Vietnam in the 1960’s the United States wasn’t lenient 15 years later when we declared our nation nuclear free, the ANZUS Treaty was terminated.
Mr Key is warming the public to a mechanised infantry deployment to Iraq for training the Iraqi Army. The Iraqi army wouldn’t need training if Iraq wasn’t invaded in the first place looking for weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist. And why did the American diplomat Paul Bremner disband the Iraqi army leaving that responsibility to New Zealand to train a new Iraqi army.
I suspect the Mechanised infantry deployment is not really training or else the Iraqi army would have been invited to train here in Waiouru. The real deployment will be be the special air service embedded with Iraqi army units in full scale combat using our Light Armoured Vehicle LAV3 .
Whats the worst that could happen if New Zealand remained neutral we could lose our membership in the five eyes agreement?
MANA has a policy of withdrawing New Zealand from the five eyes agreement due to the NSA spying on New Zealand citizens with sensors intercepting communications on the southern cross cable, as revealed by former NSA Analyst Edward Snowden.
