I wanted to send you a note to express my regret at not being able to visit Te Tai Tokerau as planned. Thank you for your understanding regarding the cancellation; as you are aware, I am compelled to act in the interests of my people and must seize every opportunity to gain further traction in our fight for independence at the diplomatic level.

I am extremely grateful for the time and energy that you, members of MANA and others have poured out for West Papua, not only in organising this latest event, but in carrying West Papua in your hearts and continuing to show solidarity with us. The growing support from Māori is testament to your efforts, which are deeply appreciated and will not be forgotten. I only wish I could honour them in person at this time.
