Some parts of society you just can’t  privatise Schools, Prisons and State housing. Serco is a defence and aerospace contractors based in the UK. Serco operates public and private transport and traffic control, aviation, military weapons, detention centres, prisons and schools.

In 2007 government tried outsourcing prisoner transport to Chubb another UK company and  17-year-old Liam Ashley was killed while in the back on a Chubb prison van . Chubb lost their government contract to transport prisoners.

Private prisons run by corporations serve a dual purpose to make maximum profit for shareholders and to meet key performance indicators for the correction’s department. Too meet these objectives and protect inmates is a fine line.

Reports that Prison guards have little resources too search cells for contraband with some inmates concealing weapons like Shanks. These failures make prisons a deadly prospect for new inmates.

The minister of social development Anne Tolley has proposed outsourcing Social welfare to Serco. A bloodcurdling prospect considering Serco prisons are conducting fight clubs and reports that  prisoner Nick Evans was thrown off a balcony.

The National governments policy of “being hard on crime” and  Neo-liberal approach of outsourcing State services like Prisons puts peoples lives in danger.
