The minister has decided property\u00a0speculator&#8217;s should\u00a0submit a New Zealand IRD number,\u00a0tax identification number from their own country and current identification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #333333;\">The National government has accused labour of releasing poor data that people with Chinese last names were disproportionately buying New Zealand real estate.\u00a0Yet the housing minister is set\u00a0to offer equally poor data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #333333;\">A New Zealand IRD number doesn&#8217;t weed out foreign property speculators anyone with a Visa or who intends on working in New Zealand can apply for an IRD number.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif'; color: #333333;\">Foreign Nationals \u00a0have no incentive\u00a0to offer\u00a0Tax identification from their own Nation if they have already submitted a New Zealand IRD number.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IDCard.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6733 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IDCard.jpg\" alt=\"IDCard\" width=\"340\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IDCard.jpg 340w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IDCard-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An identification card is no indicator of what country a foreign national lives in. What if the property speculator is a student at Auckland University?
