It is with great respect that I, Porter, Rueben Taipari accept the<\/p>\n

Mana party candidacy to stand in the Northland by election caused by
\nthe mysterious resignation of Mike Sabin ex National party MP.
\nThe reason I accept is because the corruption within this Govt is a
\nmajor issue and blatant disregard for the democratic system, fast
\ntracked laws, misuse of Govt intelligence services, convenient
\nforgetfulness and many other unethical practises should be a concern
\nfor all who value our freedom as a democratic country.
\nNational made a lot of promises in the election last year and has kept
\nnone of them.
\nThis seems to be a regular occurrence that National takes Northland
\nvoters for granted.
\nNow they are going to cost the country over a $1 million to hold this
\nby election, which they could have avoided had they investigated their
\ncandidates more thoroughly. I don’t know the new candidate but I hope
\nthey have done their homework better this time…<\/p>\n

The issues of the future economy for Northland will be a major focus<\/p>\n

for me in the debates ahead and the Mana party policies have sound
\nsuggestions that will benefit the future of local businesses in
\nNorthland. My holistic understanding of the economy and about how
\npolitical power is manouvered towards our regions benefit will be an
\nasset that everbody can take advantage of.
\nMana is totally against toxic mining and Deep sea Oil drilling in
\nNorthland by companies such as Statoil from Norway. The potential
\nthreat to our coastlines only 30kms off of Ahipara and being surveyed
\ndown past the Kaipara and into the Auckland Waitemata harbours is a
\nmassive risk to take and the Govt is giving no compensation packages
\nor holding anybody accountable should a disaster occur. Pal Haremo,
\nvice president of Statoil has confirmed that they have no experience
\ndrilling below 2000 metres. Risking our homes and seas for the Govts
\nfinancial benefit will not bring prosperity to our communities. Mana
\nparty believes in an environmentally sustainable economy, married with
\nmodern technology and our unique cultural identity will be the future
