Journalistic integrity or objectivity are not the words one would use in the same sentence as New Zealand Herald. Its strategy of a smear campaign against former MP Hone Harawira denying\u00a0his Robin Hood status of fighting for the poor and \u00a0dispossessed and glorifying his defeat is undeniable.<\/p>\n<p>Before the elections the New Zealand Herald took on Alan Duff the author of the novel \u00a0<em>Once were Warriors<\/em>. Alan&#8217;s first column was to\u00a0\u00a0endorse the Maori party and give them a glowing review and\u00a0he wrote off\u00a0the Mana Movement . In Alan Duffs second column after the elections he\u00a0suggested that Hone Harawira cared little for the poor and dispossessed with this comment.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-252 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"duff\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff-495x371.jpg 495w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff-80x60.jpg 80w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff-161x120.jpg 161w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/duff.jpg 1632w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>radicals and leftwing ideologists have never done anything to help the poor,the downtrodden whom they claim to be valiant defenders of<\/em>&#8220;. <strong>Alan Duff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jesus Christ was a left wing radical in the eyes of Pontius Pilate and I think we all agree\u00a0\u00a0Jesus helped the poor. \u00a0Alan spent the remainder of this column endorsing the National party that has blocked the feed the kids bill at every step. This block is affecting predominantly vulnerable Maori children that live in situations similar to Alan&#8217;s novels.<\/p>\n<p>The Herald recently had an opinion piece that Hone Harwira spent alot of money requesting a recount, the suggestion was that money could have been used to feed the kids<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>I wonder if disgruntled Hone Harawira has given a thought to how many breakfasts of Weet-Bix and milk the $30,000 for his recount could have bought for his so-called impoverished Far North?&#8221; \u00a0<\/em><strong>Linda Lang<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The answer to this rant Linda is no money designated for \u00a0parliament\u00a0will ever be diverted to starving children in schools. Alot of Maori voters from across the country wanted to see\u00a0this recount, because many got rejected at the polling booths.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-263 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/editorial-300x242.jpg\" alt=\"editorial\" width=\"300\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/editorial-300x242.jpg 300w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/editorial-495x400.jpg 495w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/editorial-110x90.jpg 110w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/editorial.jpg 647w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>On October 11th the most scathing editorial came from the New Zealand Herald the editor that wrote this piece didn&#8217;t have the courage to put their name against this blatant character assassination.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Hone Harawira did not exactly grace Parliament while he was there,\u00a0 so nobody would have been surprised at the manner of his departure.&#8221;<\/em> <strong>Mystery editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National party leader\u00a0is often immature in parliament giving childish yes no answers while mocking the opposition, the Herald does not mention this\u00a0adolescent behaviour whereas Mr Harawira has always acted with Mana\u00a0and professionalism in parliament.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Mr Harawira deserves an honest appraisal. His performance in Parliament did not justify a public salary.&#8221;<\/em> <strong>Mystery editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Does this mystery\u00a0editor that\u00a0that lacks the conviction to provide a name but has the courage \u00a0to make character assassinations justify their own salary.\u00a0Fortunately for Hone Harawira \u00a0the NZ Herald has a track history of Maori bashing and has discriminated against Maori\u00a0for hundreds of years\u00a0dating back to the land confiscations in the New Zealand\u00a0settlements act 1863 .\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-280 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"keho\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho-495x371.jpg 495w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho-80x60.jpg 80w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho-161x120.jpg 161w, http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/keho.jpg 1632w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the 20th Oct the NZ Herald reporter Isaac Davison made\u00a0this comment on the article to the right<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Auckland voters played a big role in kicking Mana leader Hone Harawira out of Parliament&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0<strong>Isaac Davison<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-282 \" src=\"http:\/\/mananews.co.nz\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/issac.jpg\" alt=\"issac\" width=\"143\" height=\"156\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Isaac Davison\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the poorest electorate in the country Te Tai Tokerau I doubt voters had the objective\u00a0of kicking a Maori MP out of parliament they would prefer to have two Members of parliament represent them. From the look of Isaac it suggests he doesn&#8217;t really know what the voters of Te Tai Tokerau want.<\/p>\n<p>The New Zealand Herald has a strategy \u00a0of unfounded subliminal messages to suggest that Hone Harawira is\u00a0a monster \u00a0while in the same instance endorsing the National party. The National party has obviously has a strong influence over the Herald and I suspect\u00a0 Alan Duff \u00a0was implanted at the request of the Maori party. But of course the NZ Herald would call this a conspiracy theory and their journalists are objective\u00a0when reporting about Hone Harawira.<\/p>\n<p>I doubt we will see any unbiased\u00a0journalism from the New Zealand Herald as it works tirelessly\u00a0to entrench the National government until 2020 \u00a0.
